Top WVU baseball pitcher exits program in shocking move

The West Virginia Mountaineers have lost an unexpected piece of their 2026 pitching lineup quite early in the season.

Reports from EerSports on Tuesday which were later confirmed by other outlets confirmed that Chase Meyer is no longer apart of the WVU baseball program.

Chase Meyer no longer with the West Virginia Mountaineers

Meyer was in his third year with the Mountaineers, and led the program in wins on the mound last season. He was named an All-Big 12 preseason selection and preseason All-American ahead of the season, ad has been listed among the Top 100 prospects in the 2026 MLB Draft

WVU head coach Steve Sabins confirmed to EerSports that Meyer was "no longer with the program" but chose not to get into too much detail on the subject.
