The Toronto Maple Leafs signed Garret Sparks to a one year deal (two-way) worth $575K at the NHL level today, giving the young netminder a second chance in the organization.
Sparks notoriously led the Toronto Maple Leafs during their stretch run to the top odds in the NHL draft lottery this year, even getting the nod in the all-important season finale against Columbus.
After shutting out the Edmonton Oilers in his NHL debut, Sparks’ stint with the Toronto Maple Leafs was all downhill after that.
He finished the season as, statistically, one of the worst goaltenders in the NHL.
