While we’re all very excited to have the Seattle Sounders back in MLS Cup, we were reminded this morning that there is still a pandemic going on. Columbus Crew SC announced this morning via a press release that another first-team player has tested positive for Covid-19.
This is the ninth Crew player to test positive during the postseason. Columbus announced in their press release that of the nine players to test positive, six have subsequently returned negative tests and are back training with the team.
It had been reported previously that MLS would consider cancelling playoff matches if an outbreak happened with a partipating team, but that hasn’t happened yet and likely won’t for MLS Cup.
