Major League Soccer have announced a contract extension with adidas until 2024. The 'Three Stripes' have had some form of relationship with the league since supplying uniforms for Columbus, DC and Kansas City in the inaugural 1996 season. Since 2005, the German sportswear brand have centrally supplied all MLS teams, along with the official match ball of MLS, and top-level equipment for all players that do not have an endorsement deal in place.
The reported value of the deal is $700m over six years, a little under $117m/yr. This is significantly higher than the current $25m/yr, and the new $70m/yr NHL deal that will see the Stars debuting their adidas sweaters in October.
